Funeral services were held for Carlie Atho [sic] Sandifer at the Church of Christ in Wheeler Monday, December 19 at 2:00 P.M., with Minister Lloyd Rice and E.M. Borden Jr., officiating.

Mr. Sandifer was born near Austin, Texas in Bastrop County on December 1, 1877. He was 83 years and 16 days old at the time of his death. He passed away in Wheeler on December 17 at 10:30 A.M.

On August 30, 1899 Mr. Sandifer was married to Etta Cain in Bastrop County and he came to Wheeler County from Coleman County in 1912. He was a member of the Church of Christ and his occupation was a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Etta Cain Sanifer [sic] of Wheeler; [Cross Plains, Tex,; Mrs. Mary Lee - sic] the children, Ormond Sandifer, Cross Plains, Texas; Mrs. Mary Lee Wicker, Live Oak, Calif.; Otho Sandifer, Cross Pains [sic], Tex.; and Weldon Sandifer of Kermit, Tex.

Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Padgitt of McKinney, Tex., and Mrs. Lillie Scales of Ganesville [sic], Ohio.

Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Pall bearers included Dick Pendleton, Bill Owen, R.G. Russ, Eli Baker, Olen Pendleton and Marl Jaco.

Named as honorary bearers were: O. Nations, Ira Passons, Ed Tillman, A.B. Crump, Cliff Bradstreet, S.D. Conwell and Bob Ramsey.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Kirk Funral [sic] Home.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Etta Sandifer, 79, of Cross Plains were conducted in the Wheeler Church of Christ with Ministers J. Lloyd Rice of Twitty and Robert Frohm, assisted by George Weems, officiating. Mrs. Sandifer had made her home in Wheeler for 49 years before making her home with a son in Cross Plains about a year ago. Mrs. Sandifer passed away at 5:15 a.m. February 19, 1962 at the Bangs Rest Home near Cross Plains.

Mrs. Etta Sandifer was born at Georgetown, June 10, 1882. She was married to Charlie Sandifer in Williamson County, August 30, 1899 and they came to make their home in Wheeler in 1912, from Coleman County.

Mrs. Sandifer was a member of the Church of Christ.

Serving as pall Bearers were Bill Owen, Olin Pendleton, Dick Pendleton, Glen Gaines, R.G. Russ and Marl Jaco.

Survivors include three sons: Ormond of Cross Plains, Otho of Sacramento, Calif., and Weldon of Kermit; one daughter: Mrs. Mary Lee Wicker of Live Oak, Calif.; seven grand children, ten great grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Beulah Arvin of Rising Star, Mrs. Nora Corzine of Escinado, Calif.; one brother: Charlie Cain of Escinado, Calif.; half sister: Mrs. Gertrude McLaughlin of Odessa and half brother: Robert Cain of Austin; Ralph Cain and Haywood Cain of Elgin; Amherst Cain of Dallas.

Interment was in the Wheeler Cemeetery [sic] with Kirk Funeral Home in Charge.
