Robert L. Shugart Jr.
February 8, 1948 - February 11, 2019

Robert L. Shugart, Jr, 71, of Shamrock passed away on February 11, 2019 in Amarillo, TX.

Services will be Friday, February 15, 2019, at 10:00 AM in the First Baptist Church, Shamrock with Rev. Mark Howard, officiating.

Burial will follow in Wheeler Cemetery, Wheeler, TX.

Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.

Robert was born February 8, 1948 in Paris, TX to Robert and Wilma (Witten) Shugart. He graduated from Wheeler High School in 1966. He married Jaunita Hutchison in 1974 in Dillon, SC. Robert served in the US Army, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1992. He retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice in 2015.

Robert was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time with his family and in the deer stand.

Mr. Shugart is survived by his wife, Jaunita Shugart of Shamrock, daughter Shonda Shugart Ledbetter of Canyon; daughter Misty Shipman and husband Daniel of Kilgore; son Shane Shugart and wife Brandi of Browns Mills, NJ; his sister, Jean Wilkerson of Commerce; sister Vicki Risner of Perryton; sister Geniva Hogan and husband Rob of Bandera. Grandchildren Britnee Villarreal, Ashton Ledbetter, Kassie Ledbetter, Jaya Ledbetter, Garrett Shipman, Victoria Shipman, Cooper Shipman, Paige Shugart, Hayden Shugart, Kempton Shugart. Great Grandchildren- Taylor Huddleston, Alexa Villarreal and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Wilma Shugart.

The family suggest memorials be sent to First Baptist Church Youth Group, 401 N. Main St., Shamrock, TX 79079.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, from 4:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home.
