William Paul Shumate, 89, died Tuesday, December 24, 1991.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Helsley, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Shumate was born in Weston. He married Cordie Meadows in 1949 at Wheeler. She died in 1990. He was a longtime resident of Wheeler. He was in the retail business and was a farmer until he retired 25 years ago. He was a member of the first [sic] Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were Charles Davidson, Roy Meadows, Bill Shumate, Bill Stiles, Jr., Johnny Valesquez [sic] and Tommy Velasquez.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Floyd Davidson of Wheeler and three step-grandchildren.
