Funeral services for Elmer Paul Simpson of Fairfield, Calif., formerly of Briscoe, were conducted January 15, 1962 at 2:30 p.m. in the Wheeler Methodist Church. Rev. Robert Ely, pastor, officiated, assisted by Rev. Richard Gibbens of Elk City. Mr. Simpson, 39, passed away January 10, 1962 at Fairfield, Calif., as a result of injuries received in an accident.
Elmer Paul Simpson, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.P. Simpson of this city, was born at Canadian December 16, 1922 and attended the Briscoe schools. After serving his country and being discharged from the US Navy he awas married to Maxine McMullen of California. He was engaged in farming in the Allison community for several years then served as a mechanic in construction work at Amarillo, Elk City, and since May, 1961, has been associated with a construction firm in California.
Mr. Simpson was a very devoted member of the Methodist Church.
Pall bearers included Harper Muse, A.B. Talley, Clifford Scott, H.J. Johnson, Cecil Meadows, Darville Atherton and Odis McCraw. Members of the Men's Bible Class of the Methodist Church were named as honorary bearers.
Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Maxine Simpson, two daughters, Bonnie and Joyce, one son, Rodney, all of the home in Fairfield, Calif.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Simpson of Wheeler; two brothers, Earl and Carl Simpson of Amarillo.
Interment was in the Wheeler cemetery under the direction of the Kirk Funeral Home.
