R. Elmer Simpson, 88, died Tuesday, May 14, 1980.
Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Friday May 16, in First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Ernie McGaughey, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.
Mr. Simpson was born in Mobeetie and lived in Wheeler County all his life. He married Lela Morehead in 1918 in Washita. He was a veteran of World War I, a retired farmer and rancher and a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Earl Simpson and Carl Simpson, both of Amarillo; a sister, Mrs. Mabelle Lobban of Clovis, N.M.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Darville Atherton, Cecil Eubanks, Leon Fillingim, Terrell Gunter, Harper Muse, Harold Nash, Adrian Risner, John C. Vise.
