Obituary
Funeral services for Benjamin Ellis Smith, 80, a 65-year Wheeler resident who died about 8 p.m. Friday near his home, were held Sunday in the Wheeler Church of Christ.

Mr. Smith was found dead about two houses distant from his home. He apparently had been stricken while taking a walk.

Officiating the funeral was Marlin McWilliams, minister. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Smith was born March 23, 1890 in Nacogdoches County, and he moved to Wheeler in 1906.

He was a retired grocery store employee and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. O.L. Justice of Merkel, Mrs. Claude Hiltbrunner of Shamrock, Mrs. Herbert Finsterwald of Wheeler and Mrs. S.C. Conner of Denison; three brothers, E.H. Smith of Kilgore, W.R. of Abilene and Bonner of Seminole.
