Obituary
Funeral services for Charles Truett Smith were held from the First Baptist Church in Wheeler at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12.

Mr. Smith passed away in Shamrock after a brief illness on Sunday, February 10, 1957. He was born at Sayre, Okla., June 13, 1912. Age 44 years, seven months and 27 days. On December 21, 1938 he was married to Lola Turner at Wheeler. He was employed by Wheeler County, Precinct One at the time of his death.

Elder A.J. Bolt assisted by Elder W.O. Wilson of the Missionary Baptist Church were in charge of the last rites. Mr. Smith was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were Frank Lee, J.T. Wallace, Lowell Farmer, Claude Cox, Robert Hutchison, K.D. Ford, Foy Farmer, and O.W. Pendleton.

Serving as pallbearers were: N.L. Sechrist, Lem Gaines, Chester Babb, Murray Sanders, Robert Lane and Ocie Ford.

Interment was in Wheeler Cemetery with a Kirk Funeral Home service.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Lola Smith of Wheeler, the father, A.W. Smith of Sayre, Okla., three brothers, Carroll Smith of Delhi, Okla., and Leonard and A.W. Smith, Jr., both of Anahuac, Texas.
