WHEELER - J.T. Tidwell, 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Wheeler Cemetery with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Tidwell was born April 10, 1919, at Cunningham, to Peter and Melinda Tyra Tidwell. He married Artie Lee Haire on July 3, 1947, at Hedley. He moved to Wheeler in 1968 from Kellerville. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was employed by Wheeler Schools for 22 years until his retirement in 1990. He was employed by First Baptist Church of Wheeler as custodian for 29 years and was also a member.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Allen of Amarillo; two sons, David Tidwell of Amarillo and Don Tidwell of Pampa; four grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven step- great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to the Pew Fund at First Baptist Church.

WHEELER — Artie Lee Tidwell, 86, of Wheeler died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, in Amarillo.
Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Wheeler with Brother Larry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Wheeler Cemetery. Arrangements are by Winegeart Funeral Home of Pampa.

Mrs. Tidwell was born April 8, 1930, in Blossom to William and Eveline Haire. She had been a resident of Wheeler since 1968.

Survivors include two sons, David Tidwell of Amarillo and Don Tidwell of Pampa; a daughter, Janice Allen of Amarillo; two brothers, Delbert Haire of Canadian and Mike Haire of Grand Junction, Colo.; three sisters, Joy Riley of Overgaard, Ariz., Joan McCarty of Redding, Calif., and Connie Cederberg of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Wheeler, 101 W. Farm-to-Market 2473, Wheeler, TX 79096; or a favorite charity.
