*Obituary George
The Wheeler community was shocked Saturday morning to learn of the tragic death of George Herman Topper. Mr. Topper was killed when his tractor overturned, pinning him beneath it. Death was instantaneous.

The esteem Mr. Topper held in the community was shown in the large crowd that attended his funeral.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at 5 p.m. at the Church of Christ. B.M. Litton, minister of the Church of Christ, officiated.

George Herman Topper was born in Bowie, Texas, May 15, 1888. He was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Myers June 11, 1911. To this union were born seven children. They are: Mrs. Milton Finsterwald of Mobeetie; Herman Topper of Wheeler; Mrs. O.L. Maxwell of Borger; George William Topper of San Francisco; Pvt. Paul Topper, stationed at Scott Field, Ill.; John and Wanda Lou Topper of Wheeler.

Also surviving are two brothers and one sister: John Topper of Sweetwater; Fred Topper of Kingsmon [sic], Ariz.; and Katherine McCord of Vallejo, Calif.

Mr. Topper was reared in Montague County, moving to Beckhan [sic] county in 1899. He has been a resident of Wheeler county for the past 20 years. He became a member of the Church of Christ in early manhood. He was in his 59th year at the time of his death.

The following were selected for flower girls: Viola Miller, Iona Miller, Iceal Miller, Opal Hefley, Inez Higgins, Rita Aderholt, Ellen Haggerman, Bonnie McRae, Vera Hampton and Gillrie Baird.

Pallbearers were: Earl Miller, Troy Miller, Zack Miller, Leonard Haggerman, Lonnie Lee, Walter Sorenson, S.A. Maxwell and Farmer Hefley.

Interment was in the Wheeler cemetery with Hunt Funeral Home in charge.

Nancy Topper Warren, 94, died Monday, August 21, 1989 in Shamrock.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, in Wheeler Church of Christ. Bill Morrison, minister, officiated. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Warren, born in Montague moved to Wheeler County in 1926. She married George Topper in 1911 at Beckham County, Okla. He died in 1946. She married George Warren in 1948 at Wheeler. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ. She was also preceded in death by two sons, John Topper in 1978, Bill Topper in 1983 and by a stepson, Aubrey Warren, in 1975.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Herman Topper of Borger and Paul Topper of Wheeler; three daughters, Katie Finsterwald of Mobeetie, Wanda Mitchell of Pampa and Mary Ann Maxwell of Wheeler; six step-daughters, Gladys Custer, Coraline CA [sic], and Ellen Jones, all of Amarillo, Verta Morris of Long Beach, Calif., Betty Jackson of Pampa, and Georgia Brummer of Garden Grove, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; 15 step grandchildren, 34 great step grandchildren; and 13 great great stepgrandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lloyd Bridges, Larry Finsterwald, Russell Mitchell, Bruce Topper, Mark Topper, P.D. Topper, Phil Topper, Calvin Warren.
