WHEELER — Janette Ann Hink Umsted, 44, died Thursday, May 22, 2014.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wheeler School gymnasium with Pastor Erron Mercer, the Rev. Matthew Gary and Brother Marty Field officiating. Burial will follow in Wheeler Cemetery. Arrangements are by Peppers Family Funeral Home of Wheeler.
Janette was born Sept. 13, 1969, to Bob Hink and Linda Rogers Hink. She graduated from Kelton High School in 1988 and attended Frank Phillips College in Borger for two years. She went on to West Texas A&M University in Canyon, where she received a bachelor's degree in education in 1994. Janette married James Umsted on May 21, 1994, in Wheeler.
Janette played college basketball at Frank Phillips College for two years, while working on her degree to become a special education teacher. She enjoyed teaching, coaching and devoting time to children whether it be in the classroom or on the basketball court.
Janette's family was everything to her, and spending time with them and friends was her life. She loved water-skiing, snow-skiing, camping and just being with those she held so close to her heart.
Survivors include her husband, James Umsted; two sons, Brennan and Landry Umsted; her parents, Bob and Linda Hink; a brother, Jason Hink; a sister, Janice Hink Kemp; two nephews, Kade Kemp and Troy Duncan; a niece, Kayla Duncan, all of Wheeler; and many other family and friends.
The family suggests memorials be to Wheeler FFA Chapter, P.O. Box 1010, Wheeler, TX 79096; or Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 711, Wheeler, TX 79096.
