Eugene T. Vaughn, 82, died Sept. 25, 2008, in Austin.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at Wheeler Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Koenig and Strickland Funeral Home and 4-8 p.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home.

Mr. Vaughn was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Commerce to M.H. and Essie Vaughn. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart for injuries he received in the Pacific Theater.

He was actively involved with the VFW as a lifetime member and past Post Commander in Borger. He was a pipe fitter.

Survivors include three sons, Lewis Vaughn and wife Theresa of Fritch, Jerry, and Robert; five grandchildren, Nathan, Michelle, Megan, Samantha, and Richard; and eight great-grandchildren, Kadance, Vera, Hallee, Allana, Brison, Kye, Maraya, and Brianna.

WHEELER - Melba Eunice Vaughn, 71, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Wheeler Cemetery with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Mrs. Vaughn was born in Wheeler and graduated from Brisco High School. In 1949, she and her husband moved to Miller, Mo., then moved to Borger in 1953 and to Flatonia in 1984.

Mrs. Vaughn was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Borger and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She married E.T. Vaughn in 1947 in Tulia. She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy, in 1960.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Jerry Vaughn and Robert Vaughn, both of Flatonia, and Lewis Vaughn of Fritch; a sister, Mary Richards of Cyril, Okla.; a brother, Sid Lee Morgan of Miami, Okla.; and two grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association, 2402 W. Seventh, Amarillo, TX 79106; or the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide No. 12A, Lubbock, TX 79424.
