WHEELER - Huffman Walker, 76, died Friday, April 17, 1998, in Kansas City, Mo.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Other arrangements were by McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Chapel.

Mr. Walker was born in Wheeler. He was a federal agency administrator. He received his bachelor of science degree in business at the University of Oklahoma in 1946. He did post-graduate work during 1946-47 and at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1971.

He was a certified professional contracts manager. He worked as an assistant station agent for the Oklahoma Railway Co. in Oklahoma City from 1947-48. He also worked in various management positions for Pontiac Motor-GM in Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Walker was president and owner of Rebonda Enterprises at Prairie Village, Kan., from 1965-67 and a contracting officer at Office Econ. Opportunity at Kansas City from 1967-73.

He served with the Navy Reserve from 1942-45 and was aboard the USS Gosselin, APD 126 in the Pacific during World War II.

Mr. Walker was a member of the Kansas Motor Car Dealers Association and its board of directors. He served as treasurer of the Sons of the Confederacy from 1967-98 and as president of the Kansas City chapter of the University of Oklahoma Alumni Association from 1991-98. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma.

He participated in and was an organizer of various Special Olympics in the Kansas City area and was a member of Village Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, H. Reed Walker of Prairie Village, Kan.; two daughters, Rhonda Walker of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Rebecca A. Farrar of Robinson, Kan.; a brother, Norris C. Walker of Pampa; and a grandchild.

The family requests memorials be to the Wheeler Ex-Students and Teachers Association, P.O. Box 1194, Wheeler, Texas 79096; or a favorite charity.
