Funeral services for J.T. Wallis, 72 of Amarillo and formerly of Wheeler and Mobeetie were held at 2 p.m. January 12 in First Baptist Church at New Mobeetie with the Rev. Aaron Laverty, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel.

Mr. Wallis was born in Cleburn and had lived in Amarillo seven years. He was a retired road maintenance worker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mobeetie. His wife preceded him in death on December 22, 1975.

Survivors included three sons, Wayne and Autry of Amarillo, Jay of Lefors; four daughters, Mrs. Marvella Rice of Temple, Mrs. Margie Banks of Gunter, Mrs. Vandale Patton of Marshall, and Mrs. June Vanlandingham of Amarillo; his mother, Mrs. Viola Atwood of Pampa and one sister, Mrs. Florence Atwood of Pampa; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a brother-in-law of Mrs. W.O. Jones and Lorene Errington of Wheeler.

Mrs. Bertie E. Wallis, 71, of 309 W. 44th, died Monday.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at New Mobeetie Baptist Church. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Wallis was born in Ranger and had been a resident of Amarillo five years.

Surviving are the widower, J.T.; three sons, H.A. of Amarillo, Wayne of Canyon and Jay of Lefors; four daughters, Mrs. June Vanlandingham of Amarillo, Mrs. Margie Banks of Gunter and Mrs. Marvella Rice and Mrs. Vondell Patton, both of Temple; one brother, Ross Errington of Amarillo; one sister, Mrs. Exie Jones of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
