WHEELER - Roberta Akin Ware, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ricky Carstensen, pastor, and the Rev. Erron Mercer, pastor of Cornerstone Church of Wheeler, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ware was born Sept. 13, 1930, to Robert Howe Akin and Bessie May Akin in Oklahoma City. She attended Oklahoma A&M University, where she met and married Nicholas D. Ware Jr. on June 18, 1949. She and N.D. moved to Wheeler, where they helped start the family business, Ware Chevrolet, and raise their family. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Western Lonestar Senior Ladies Golf Association and the Shamrock Ladies Golf Association. Mrs. Ware was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Thursday Review Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; her parents; and a sister.

Survivors include three sons, Bobby Ware, Kent Ware and wife, Angie, and Gary Ware and wife, Tresa, all of Wheeler; two daughters, Janice Barr and husband, Steve, of Cary, N.C., and Niki Cooper of Lubbock; a sister, Patsy Brooks and husband, Bill, of Eureka Springs, Ark.; and 13 grandchildren, Trent Ware and Kate Cooper Tatarowicz, both of Dallas, Nic Ware, Jake Ware, Levi Ware, and Garret Ware, all of Wheeler, Ashley Ware of Tampa, Fla., Corey Barr of Los Angeles, Drew Barr and Philip Barr, both of Cary, Steele Cooper of Miami, Corbin Cooper of Kansas City, Mo., and Brady Ware of Amarillo.

The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church.
