MIAMI - William W. "Bill" Wiley, 78, died Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Kinder, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler.

Mr. Wiley was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Wheeler to H.M. and Mary Kite Wiley. He graduated from Wheeler High School and attended Texas A&M University until he entered the service of the Navy.

He served aboard the S.S. Lubbock in the South Pacific during World War II. He married Barbara Baker on Dec. 22, 1951, in Wichita, Kan. He moved to Miami in 1954 and became owner/manager of Consolidated Utilities Inc., until he retired in 1985.

He loved to fly and enjoyed a host of friends among his fellow pilots. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the American Legion and Masonic Lodge No. 805 in Miami.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Frances; three sisters and a brother.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Wiley of Miami; a grandson, James Wiley; a brother, Paul M. Wily of Austin; two sisters, Marthalys Hutchins of Dallas and Celeste Wiley of Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church in Miami or a favorite charity.
