The period of life is brief.
Tis the red in a rose leaf.
Tis the gold in a sunset sky.
Tis the flight of the birds on high.
But we may fill that space
With such infinite grace,
That the red shall change all time,
The gold through ages shine,
And the bird shall fly straight
To the portals of God’s own gate.
