ZAPATA-- Maurilio Flores, 82, passed away Sunday, March 29, 1998 in a Laredo hospital. He was born in Old Zapata. He was a rancher in Zapata.
Mr. Flores was a descendent of on the of the first pioneer families to settle in Old Guerrero and Old Zapata. He started his education in Old Zapata and moved to Laredo to further his education graduating from Mart in High School. He later obtained his diploma in accounting from La Salle Extention University.
Mr. Flores volunteered his services to the U.S. Army during WW II, and received his Honorable Discharge. Mr. Flores dedicated his life to his family and in managing the Caliche Ranch in Zapata County.
He was a member of the Lions Club of Zapata, and Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, also known as T.S.C.R.A., and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V). He is survived by his wife Amalia.
