SHAMROCK - Alvin Ward Wingo, 69, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, in Wheeler.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Lowe, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler by Wright Funeral Directors.
Mr. Wingo was born Dec. 2, 1935, to Ward Wingo and Iola Forrest Wingo. Mr. Wingo grew up and graduated from high school in Vici, Okla. He married Delma Andrews on Oct. 11, 1957, in Rocky, Okla. He moved to the Shamrock area in February 2000 from Forney. Mr. Wingo had been a State Farm Insurance agent for 35 years in the Dallas area. He was a member and very active in the Texas Independent Bird Hunters Association and the National Shoot to Retrieve Association. He was an avid bird hunter, was involved with field trials and in later years, he enjoyed golfing. He was a 1958 graduate of Oklahoma City University and a member of the Marine Corps Reserves. Mr. Wingo was a member of First United Methodist Church of Heath from 1972 to 2000 and was very active in many offices and the church choir.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Susan Carol Wingo on Dec. 9, 1991.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Alvin Ward Wingo Jr. of Forney and Eldon Ray Wingo of Amarillo; two brothers, Keith Wingo of Oklahoma City and Don Wingo of Seagraves; a sister, Kathryn Epperson of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren, Keenan Ward Wingo, Wesley Ray Wingo, Tyler Bryan Wingo and Raven Faye Wingo.
