Mrs. D. E. Aden, 80, passed away in the Shackelford County Memorial Hospital. She had been hospitalized several weeks and had been in failing health for some time.
The funeral was held in the First Christian Church and burial was in the Albany Cemetery.
Rev. and Mrs. Aden resided in Albany from 1945 until 1950, while he was minister of the First Christian Church. They went to Cisco for a year, then he was pastor of the Marietta, Okla., Christian Church for six years before retiring, and they purchased a home in Albany and returned here in 1957.
Nettie Hancock was born Oct. 14, 1884, in Parris, Tenn., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Hancock. She was married there May 10, 1909, to D. E. Aden, and they came to Texas to make their home. Rev. Aden was an engineer and operated plants in East Texas before going to Texas A&M in 1920 to take charge of the power plant of the college, and they resided there until 1926. He had been a lay preacher for several years, and then entered full time ministry. They went to Jasper where he served his first pastorate, and later lived in Kilgore, Sabina, Albany, Cisco and Marietta.
Mrs. Aden had been a member of the Christian Church since 1915, and was a wonderful Christian and aid to her husband in the work of her church.
