SHAMROCK

Frances Lea Harris Young, 89, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014, after battling cancer with courage, humor and grace. There will family visitation time at Robertson Funeral Home in Shamrock, TX, on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Jarrod Neal and Rev. Gary Casey, will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Shamrock First United Methodist Church, with the burial following at the Kelton Cemetery.

Arrangements are under direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Shamrock.

Frances was born on September 20, 1924, in Sapulpa, OK, to W.E. and Ruth Rogers Harris. She grew up in Quanah, TX, graduated from Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK, with a bachelor's degree in music and married Jack Wilson Young in 1945. Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Frances loved people and music. She enjoyed sharing her passion for music with her family, students, church and community. She taught elementary school and piano for over 15 years in Shamrock, TX. She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she served as choir director, organist and pianist for decades. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her three children: daughter, Jane Ann Casey and husband Gary of Lubbock, TX; son, Mark Wilson Young and wife Phyllis of Flower Mound, TX; son, John William Young and wife Theresa of Burleson, TX; six grandchildren, Michael Young and wife Claire of Roundrock , TX; Brant Casey of San Antonio, TX; Kate Young Wagoner of Colleyville, TX; Amanda Casey Hill and husband Chad of Lubbock, TX; Sarah Young and Megan Young of Burleson, TX; nine great-grandchildren, Paige, Sibley and Mark Wilson Young; Jack, Ben and Will Wagoner; Taylor, Averi and Connor Hill; one brother, W. R. Harris and wife Artie of Sweetwater, TX; two nieces and one nephew.

The family extends thanks and appreciation to the staff and caretakers of Hospice of Lubbock, Mackenzie Place Assisted Living, Covenant Palliative Care and Helping Hands Home Healthcare for their care, kindness and compassion for Frances.
