Patrick Roy Barker, 84, of Colorado City passed away peacefully at the Mitchell County Nursing and Rehab Center with his family by his side.

He was born October 2, 1933 in McAlester, Oklahoma.

Roy will be remembered by those who knew him best as a hard-working man, strong willed, and determined, taking pride in all he did. He married the love of his life, Mary Katherine Jones, on December 23, 1953. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. If somebody needed anything he would be there for them always willing to go the extra mile. He worked as a lineman for the cable company, as well as the Texas Highway Department; and was a police officer for Colorado City and Lubbock for several years. He was a social butterfly who loved dancing to country music and never had trouble getting somebody out on the dancefloor with him.

Those left to cherish Roy’s memory are his loving wife, Kathy Barker; his daughter, Brenda Taylor; his son, Patrick Loy Barker, all of Colorado City; grandchildren, Bethany and Tony Martin of Colorado City, and Patrick H. Taylor Jr. of Auckland, New Zealand; three great-grandchildren, Karson, Kaydence, and Kennedy Martin; nieces, Theresa Shelby and husband Mo, and Karan Mayes, all of Abilene; and nephews, Mike Barker of Tennessee, James Barker and wife Debbie of Merkel, and Dale Barker and wife Cindy of Abilene; as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Velma and L.E. Barrington; and his brother W.H. Barker.

A graveside service will be held at Mitchell County Cemetery at 10 AM on Thursday, May 17th with Brother Paul Smith officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
