Funeral services for Donald Wayne Archer, 86, of Lamesa will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Tyler Archer, Kyle Bostick, and Pastor Jim Medley officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.

Donald was born in Dawson County to O.M. and Jewel (Smith) Archer on December 29, 1932. He married Norma Oswalt Archer on November 8, 1952. He was a farmer in Dawson, Gaines and Martin Counties for over 59 years. He served his country from 1952-1955 as a Corporal for the U.S. Army during the Korean War while stationed in Germany. He remained in the Army Reserve until 1961. He had a passion for cotton farming and horse racing, but most of all he loved his family. He died on January 18, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones.

He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lamesa for over 60 years and recently moved his membership to Second Baptist Church of Lamesa.

He is survived by his wife Betty of ten years and his five children: daughter Debby Isaacs of Lamesa, son Richard Archer and wife Kelli of Lamesa, daughter Gayla Marble and husband Brett of South Plains, daughter Stacey Jones and husband Tim of Lamesa, and son Steven Archer and wife Leigh Ann of Lamesa. Grandchildren: Shelby Vaughan and husband Kevin of Andrews, Shaina Bostick and husband Kyle of College Station, Tyler Archer and wife Casie of Lamesa, Brenna Mikes and husband Kristopher of Lamesa, Morgan Espe and husband Chase of Lubbock, Lindsey Archer of Lamesa, Makenzie Caldwell of Big Spring, Miles Marble of Lubbock, Kara Wickman and husband Ryan of Midland, Steelie Smith of Lubbock, Liddie Smith of Lamesa, and Luke Smith of Lamesa. Great grandchildren: Gracie Huffaker, Fynn Vaughan, Cooper Taylor, Kylee Bostick, Ainsley Wickman, Rylon Archer, Kynslee Bostick, Carter Beseda, Bentley Espe, Kannon Mikes, and Owen Wickman. Siblings: Francis Blackstock, Lana Archer, Maurice Archer, and Bob Archer. Step children: Steve Walls and Michelle of Wall, Tracey Walls and wife Shari of Victoria, and Deena Tyler and husband Mike of Lamesa. Step grandchildren: Riah Beseda and husband Trey, Tanner Jones, and Matthew Jones.

He is preceded in death by his parents O.M. and Jewel Archer, his wife of 42 years and mother of his children Norma Oswalt Archer, brother Melton Archer, sister Emma Lee Cozart, brother Doyle Archer, and son in law Doug Isaacs.
