A funeral service for Larry Joe Aten, 63, of Lamesa will be held on Thursday January 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Brother Rush Coffman officiating. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday January 23, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.

Larry passed away on Monday January 21, 2013 in Lubbock. He was born on June 19, 1949 in Lamesa to Earl Dean and Rozella (Tucker) Aten. He married Gay Clement in 2006 in Lamesa. Larry worked in the oilfield his entire career and he owned and operated Aten Trucking. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife, Gay Aten of Lamesa; children, Coby McMorris and wife, Vickie of Tarzan, April Aten of Lubbock, Larry Joe Aten Jr., "Joey" and wife, Carley of Midland; step-children, Lee Barkowsky and wife, Laura of Lubbock, Amanda Lovell and husband, Dustin of Midland, and Amber Franklin and husband, Clint of Lubbock; brother, Robert Aten of Gail; and 8 grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to American Liver Association, 39 Broadway, Suite 2700, New York, NY 10006, or American Heart Association 3403 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423.
