*Obituary Abel
A Catholic funeral service mass will be celebrated for ABEL BARRERA, age 47, of Lamesa at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Burial will follow at Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. A Rosary service is scheduled for 7:p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home chapel.

Abel died on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. He was born on September 17, 1965 in Lamesa. Abel loved his family and enjoyed working and "hanging out".

Preceded Abel in death was his father, Fernando Barrera and just recently, his mother, Adeli Barrera on April 7, 2013; three brothers, Robert Barrera, Gilbert Barrera and Adam Barrera.

Survivors include three brothers, Johnny Barrera and Henry Barrera, both of Lubbock, TX. and Eddie Barrera of Midland, TX.; two sisters, Eva Barrera and Priscilla Barrera, both of Lamesa; two step-sons, Jacob Diaz and Steven Diaz, both of Lamesa; several nephews and nieces.

A Catholic funeral service mass will be celebrated for Adeli Barrera, age 83 of Lamesa at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 12, 2013 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Burial will follow at Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Rosary services were set for 7;00p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday nights at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.

Adeli passed-away early Sunday morning, April 7, 2013 at Covenent Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. She married Fernando Barrera on July 25, 1949 in Lamesa. She loved her family, music and dancing. Adeli will be greatly missed.

Preceded her in death was her husband, Fernando Barrera; her sons, Robert Barrera, Gilbert Barrera and Adam Barrera; her parents, Pedro and Nieves Martinez; sister, Lydia Harding; brother, Madaleno Gonzalez.

Survivors include four sons, Johnny Barrera and Henry Barrera, both of Lubbock, TX. and Eddie Barrera, Sr. and Abel Barrera, both of Midland, TX.; two daughters, Eva Barrera and Priscilla Barrera, both of Lamesa; one sister, Geneva Orcon of Abilene, TX.; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
