Will H. Awtrey, 80, resident of Hereford since 1955 died early Tuesday Oct. 19 in Bob Wilson Memorial hospital in Ulysses, Kan from a heart attack. The services were Oct. 20 in the First Methodist Church with Rev. Hershel Thurston, and Rev. Russell McCanaly of the Friona Methodist Church.

Burial was in West Park Cemetery of Hereford under the direction of Cabons Funeral home of Friona. The body was in state from 8 a.m. thill [sic] noon at the Gelland funeral Chapel in Hereford.

Mr. Awtrey had been in Ulyses [sic] visiting his son W.H. Jr., and family and seeing the harvesting of the crop on the family farm.

W H lived at Wheeler from 1920 till 1934 when he moved to Muleshoe, Tex. then moving to Hereford in 1955. He married Jewell Bryant at Childress in August, 1919.

Survivors include his wife, sons: Dean of Friona W H Jr., of Ulyses [sic], Kan, a daughter by former marriage, Mrs. Juneta Robicheaux of Shreveport, La.; brothers, O J of Melrose, N.M., Jim of Amarillo, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He also was a member of the First Methodist Church of Hereford.
