HEREFORD - Labry Ballard, 81, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2002, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Darren Skinner officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. Ballard was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Haskell, the son of Labry and Irine Ballard. He married Jean Spande on Nov. 11, 1946, in Hereford. He was a lifelong farmer and crop adjuster.
He was a veteran, having served in the Army during World War II. He was active in Hereford Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, senior citizens and Whiteface Booster Club.
He had served on the school board of Hereford I.S.D., was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hereford, served on the church board and taught a Sunday school class.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Ballard, in 1977.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Beth Welty of Canyon, Susan Martin of Albuquerque, N.M., and Amy Cook of Friona; a sister, Helen Spinks of Hereford; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Hereford Senior Citizens, 426 Ranger St., Hereford, TX 79045; or First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 527, Hereford, TX 79045.
