LAMESA-In loving memory of Ernestine Teenie Boyd, who passed away Aug. 17, 2012, in Waco, Texas, at the young age of 89. Teenie was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Sentinel, Okla., to Ernest and Lena Hobbs Gambill. She moved to Lamesa, Texas, in 1937, where she met her husband, Wright Cowboy Boyd. Teenie attended Texas Tech University, where she graduated in 1944. She then began her 25-year teaching career in the fourth grade at Central and V.Z. Rogers Elementary Schools in Lamesa. Teenie and Cowboy married Jan. 31, 1946, and enjoyed 54 wonderful years of marriage until Cowboy's death in May of 2000. Teenie was devoted to the First Baptist Church of Lamesa, where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She was involved in W.M.U. and loved singing in the choir.

Teenie is survived by her sons, Chris and wife Lanelle of Waco, Texas, and Craig and wife Lyn of Austin, Texas, and three granddaughters, Cristin Reyes and husband Michael, Courtney Smotherman and husband Jody, and Randi Luna and husband David. She was blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Ashland and Zachary Reyes, Grant, Joseph and Christopher Smotherman, and Abigail and Samantha Luna.

Memorial services will take place at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 20, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Lamesa with Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home of Lamesa. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Lamesa, 801 S 1st, Lamesa, TX 79331; The American Heart Association by visiting www.heart.org; or to a charity of one's choice.
