Jerry Marvin Mudgett was born on Feburary 22 1896 in Jackson County, Oklahoma to Wiley Mudgett and Mary Viola Franklin. He had seven brothers and two sisters; Wilbur Allen(1891), Benjamin 'Frank'lin(1893), Stanley Noel(1894), Sidney Roscoe(1898), Olive Blanche(1900), Infant Sister(1902-1902), Dwight(1904-1906), Brady(1908-1909) ahd Ray Wiley(1913).

While growing up he helped his father and older brothers, farming and ranching in Oklahoma and Texas. When in high school he met Maude Jewell Bybee, the daughter of Shird H Bybee and Mary Elizabeth Upchurch. They got engaged, but before they got married Jerry went in to the Army during World War I. During the war he was a PFC. When he got out of the service they got married. They had one son, Wiley Hamlin, who was born on Feburary 4, 1922. Wiley married Elizabeth 'Libby' Stokes, and they gave Jerry three grandchildren; Michael, Candy and Penny.

Jerry lived most of his married life in Slaton, Lubbock County, Texas. He worked for Slaton Motor Company, which was the Ford dealership. He was a mechanic and the shop foreman. He be longed to several clubs and to the Methodist Church.

Jerry's beloved wife, Maude died on Feburary 21,1977. She was laid to rest at Englewood Cemetery, Slaton, Lubbock County, Texas.

Jerry died on December 1,1983. He was laid to rest next to his wife. Jerry loved life, his wife, his family and grandchildren very much. He loved fishing and working with the community. He had a great sense of humor. He could always make you laugh. He was liked by every one who knew him and he is greatly missed.

Maude Jewel Bybee was born on March 22, 1898 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas, to Shird H Bybee and Mary Elizabeth Upchurch.

She had six brothers and sisters; John Wallace(1884), Walter Joseph(1888), Mary Lou(1891), Delbert William(1894), William Jennings Bryan(1900), and Bonnie H(1903).

She met Jerry Marvin Mudgett when they were in school and they got engage, but before they were married he was drafted in to the service. After he came back they were married. They had one son Wiley Hamlin "WH" on February 4, 1922. in Lockney, Floyd County, Texas.

They later moved to Slaton, Lubbock County, Texas. Here Jerry work for the Slaton Motor Company which handled "Ford" vehicles. Maude was a home maker.

After their son married Elizabeth "Libby" Stokes, it wasn't long before they had three grandchildren; Mike, Candy and Penny.

Maude died on February 22, 1977. She was laid to rest in Englewood Cemetery Slaton, Lubbock County, Texas. She was a sweet and wonderful person, and loved by everyone who new her.
