LAMESA — Albert Eugene "Gene" Britt went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 23, 2006.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church In Lamesa, Texas on Thursday, April 27, at 12:00 p.m., with the Reverends Mike Matheny and Forest Srader officiating. Burial will be in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Mr. Britt was born November 3, 1934 in Pride, Texas. He graduated from Lamesa High school in 1953. Gene owned and operated Britt Trucking, and Britt Dirt Contracting as well as Britt Well Service with locations in Lamesa, Odessa, Big Lake and Sweetwater. This business specializes in both oilfield trucking, construction and well servicing. The business was founded by his father Albert Emory "Bill" Britt in 1934.

Gene met and married the love of his life Judy Crutcher in Lamesa, Texas, November 17, 1960.

Gene was a very successful businessman continuing the operation of these businesses until his death. His leadership and expertise made the company the success it is today. He was and always will be a name recognized in the oil business.

Gene never met a stranger, and never was too busy to stop and visit. He was truly a people person and was very will liked and thought of in west Texas and the New Mexico areas. A compassionate man who was true to his word and loved dearly by those who worked for and with him. He was an excellent husband and dad and loved his family dearly.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Emory "Bill" Britt and Viola Itasca Roberts Britt, and a beloved son Zane Eugene Britt.

Survivors include his wife Judy, daughter Lauri Ann and son Chance Wade all of Lamesa as well as his grandchildren, Kortney Danielle, Dakota Demi, Kamie Jaide all of Lamesa and Cassidy Cheyenne Britt of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He will be surely missed by his family and numerous friends, and businessmen throughout the area.

The family requests memorials be sent to Howard College c/o the Gene Britt Memorial Scholarship Fund, 1001 Birdwell Lane, Big Spring, Texas 79720 Attn: Jan Forsythe.
