Services for Freddy Keaton Gandy, 71, of Brownfield will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Brownfield First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Land officiating. Burial will be in Sundown Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.

Freddy passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Lubbock. He was born Sept. 11, 1936 in Brownfield to W. R. and Biddie Caraway Gandy. He attended and graduated from Lorenzo High School. Freddy moved to Brownfield in 1993. He owned Freddy's Pits, building professional and custom Bar-B-Que pits. He was a cowboy, gin-hand, chuck wagon cook working in the agricultural field. He was a member and past Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge and member of Jaycees. Freddy was a contributing member of the annual National Cowboy Symposium and Celebration, held in Lubbock, since its origin 18 years ago. Freddy helped build and repair many cotton gins and invented a chemical to help cut down the static electricity in the ginning process, the cause of many gin fires. He is preceded in death by his son, David Christopher Gandy, his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
