Wife of Henry Payton
Services for Lila Marie Payton, 69, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Church on the Rock in Lubbock with Pastor Jackie White officiating.
Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. She passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, in Lubbock. Born July 18, 1934, in Lubbock, she graduated from Lubbock High School and then went to nursing school. She married Henry Payton on Jan. 8, 1975, in Slaton. An LVN for over 20 years, she retired from Texas Tech University as a police officer with 10 years of service. She was a member of Church on the Rock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; and two brothers, Robert Carter and Floyd Carter. Survivors include three daughters, Toni Butts of Lubbock, Terri McInnes of Lubbock, and Traci Roberts-Condello of Thornton, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Angelia Lee of Shallowater; two stepsons, Dennis Payton of Lubbock and Richard Payton of Andrews; two sisters, Hazel Hoffman of Roscoe and Sue McSpadden of Ennis; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
