This afternoon at three o'clock, the venerable couple, together in death, were laid to rest in the same grave at the cemetery in Hereford, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Basham had been members of the Christian Church for many years, and Rev. J. N. Wooten, pastor of the church had charge of the funeral services. The two people were widely known and loved in the county and the funeral procession which followed the bodies to their grave was the largest ever seen.

L. R. Basham and his wife were both about 70 years of age. Mr. Basham had one married daughter who left a few days ago after an extended visit.

Mr. Basham was a confederate veteran and a knight of the Pythias. He was well known throughout West Texas from San antonio North. In his boyhood days, he was driver of the overland stage from San Antonio to El Paso and had fond memories of the old stage-coach, indian fighting days.
