Services for Donnie Osburn, 96, of Slaton will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, in Englunds Chapel with Curtis Baker officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Donnie passed from this life Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at the age of 96 in Lubbock. She was born Dec. 30, 1914, Farmersville, Texas. Donnie moved to Slaton in 1920 from Bonham and attended Slaton schools. She married James L. Osburn on Dec. 2, 1933, in Slaton. James preceded her in death in 1974. They previously lived in Colorado and California before returning to Slaton in 1961.
Donnie was a master seamstress, cutter and pattern maker, and managed numerous dress shops. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Slaton's Women Auxiliary of VFW Post 6721 and the Railroad Retirement Club.
Her sons, James in 2005 and Melvin in 2009, preceded her in death, as have five siblings and a grandchild.
Those who survive her include her daughter, Gay and husband Cecil Land of Slaton; sister; Wanda Hutto of Austin; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
