Funeral services for Jerry Lee Oats, 65, of Ransom Canyon will be Saturday, June 12, 2010, at 2 p.m. in Englunds Chapel in Slaton, Texas. Interment will be in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Jerry passed from this life Thursday, June 10, 2010 in his home.

Jerry was born on August 1, 1944 in Cooper, TX. He moved to the Lubbock Cooper area in 1951 with his family and graduated from Lubbock Cooper High School in 1964. He attended Texas Tech. Jerry married Brenda Burke on Jan. 19, 1973 in Cooper Methodist Church, and they resided at Buffalo Springs Lake. Jerry worked for Litton Data Systems for over 20 years before retiring. They moved to Ransom Canyon in March 1981.

His survivors include his wife of 37 years, Brenda of the home; one son, Shane Oats of Ransom Canyon; one daughter, Amanda Samples and husband Darin of Lubbock; a brother, Clay N. Oats and wife Sharon of Slaton; and three grandchildren, Dylan, Devin and Austin Samples.
