Longtime Resident Is Buried
Funeral services for Laverne Burrow, 83, were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Friona, with Rev. Charles Broadhurst officiating.
Burial was in Friona Cemetery, under the direction of Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burrow passed away at 12:05 a.m. Monday, February 3, 1992, at Lubbock Methodist Hospital.
She was born in Aspermont, Texas and moved to Friona in 1945 from Lubbock. She married John H. Burrow in 1947 in Friona. He died in 1975.
Mrs. Burrow worked as a clerk at the Friona Post Office for over 30 years, retiring in the mid-1970s.
She had been a member of Friona's First Baptist Church since 1945, having been a member of the Senior Adult Choir, and was also a longtime member of Modern Study Club.
Survivors include one son, John C. Burrow of Detroit, Michigan; one daughter, LaVoyce Wofford of Stamford; one brother, R.O. Gibson of Stamford; three sisters, Vera Beil and Mae Magness of Friona; Opal Rogers of Lubbock and Donna Hughes of Stamford. Four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.
Pallbearers were Joe Tullis, Dave Thompson, Don Kimbrough, Curtis Murphree, Doyce Barnett and Valton Howard.
