Husband of Cherie Poer
Funeral service for Leroy Poer, 72, of Slaton will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Slaton's First Baptist Church with Dr. Cleve Kerby officiating. Internment will follow in Englewood Cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Leroy passed from this life Monday, May 2, 2011 in Lubbock. He was born July 3, 1938 in Portales, NM.
He moved with his family to Slaton in 1948. Leroy graduated from Slaton High School in 1956.
Leroy married Cherie Arrants on May 30, 1958 in Slaton. They lived mostly in Slaton, but did live in Levelland from 1971 to1984 when they returned to Slaton.
He retired after 26 years on the Lubbock Fire Department. Leroy was a member of the IAFF and was serving as a deacon in the First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L. D. and Lottie Poer and brother, Charles Poer.
