Joe Edd Coffey
October 21, 1935 - May 18, 2017

Joe Edd Coffey of Lamesa passed away on May 18th, 2017, after 81 wonderful years. Born October 21, 1935, in Randlett, Oklahoma, Joe (affectionately known as "Dude") was the youngest of nine children. Joe was a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in accounting granted in 1958. He remained a lifelong Tech Fan, and passed away of natural causes watching his Red Raiders. Joe married Martha Riddle in Tahoka, Texas on August 25, 1957, and they remained married for 59 devoted years.
She survives him, along with daughter Cynthia Server, of Lubbock, her husband Rex Server, son Mark Coffey, of Austin, and grandchildren Mason Server, of Lubbock, and Audra Holmes, of Temple, who is the mother, with her husband Dr. Justin Holmes, of two great-grandsons, Jack and Clark Holmes. Joe is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Joe was a charter member of the Optimist Club in Lamesa, and shared his Christian faith in the congregation of the First Baptist Church of Lamesa. Few who know Joe can forget his love of a story and a laugh, and those who knew him benefited often from his kind and generous spirit. Joe loved to travel, especially to his favorite destination, Las Vegas. Joe practiced his profession as a CPA in Lamesa for 53 years, before retiring. Joe was greatly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorial services will be held at First Baptist Church of Lamesa on Monday, May 22nd, at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be held following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church 801 S. 1st, Lamesa, TX 79331.
