Funeral service for Joddie Lee Collins, 71, of Lamesa will be held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Eric Bland officiating and T.C. Collins, Jr. assisting. Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Receiving of friends will be held Friday, February 28, 2020 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Joddie passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in the comfort of his home in Lamesa, Texas.

He was born April 8, 1948 to Hubert and Annie (Washington) Collins. He was married to Lillie Mitchell Collins for 54 years. He worked for Cope Sand and Gravel, Lamesa Oil Mill and the Lamesa Compress. He attended Blackshear School and Lamesa High School. He enjoyed his family, sports, riding motorcycles. He attended the Boxer Academy growing up, where he won many trophies.

Joddie is survived by his wife, Lillie Mitchell Collins; children, Alphea Collins, Joddie Collins, Jr, Renee Taylor, and Preston Bolton all of Midland; Coleman Maxwell of Fort Worth, Braxton Maxwell of Lubbock; sisters, Cleo Bland of Roswell, New Mexico and Irma Williams of Lamesa; nine grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Joddie is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nease Crosby; brothers, Hubert Collins, Jr., T.C. Collins, L.E. Collins and L.C. Collins; sisters, Clara McDowell and Ora Edwards; and a host of uncles and aunties. To send condolences online, please visit www.branonfuneralhome.com.
