Chapel funeral services for Juan C. Cortez, age 75 of Lamesa, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ramiro Lumbreras officiating and assisted by Pastor Lupe Cortez. Burial wil follow to Dawson County Cemtery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.

Inspirational services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday nights at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Cortez passed away on Monday, October 10, 2016 in Midland, Texas. He was born on May 16, 1941 in Georgewest, Texas.

He spent his life working as a cotton farmer. Juan loved praising God and spending time with the family and he loved roosters.

Juan was preceded in death by his father, Melquiades Cortez; his son, Mundo Cortez; his infant son, Juan Cortez, Jr.; his brother, Jesus Cortez.

Juan is survived by his loving family, his mother, Teresa Cortez of Seminole, Texas; his sons, Reynaldo Cortez, Chayo Cortez and Johnny Gomez Cortez, all of Lamesa, Texas; his daughters, Diana Cortez of Midland, Texas, Debra Rodriguez of Fort Worth, Texas, Teresa Rodriguez of Lamesa, Texas; his brothers, Vidal Cavazos of Andrews, Texas, Daniel Cortez and Pedro Cortez, both of Lamesa, Texas, Robert Cortez of Big Spring, Texas, Frank Cortez of Phoenix, AZ., Pablo Cortez of Coleman, Texas, Alejandro Cortez of Winters, Texas; his sisters, Cipriana Cortez of Winters, Texas, Rafaela Ortiz of Seminole, Texas; 37 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a host of family relatives and friends.
