Visitation for Frankie Beatrice Currie, 87, of Lamesa will be Tuesday August 31, 2010 from 7-8 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home in Lamesa.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday September 1, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Lamesa Cemetery with Bro. Clifton Igo and David Fletcher officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.

Frankie passed away on Sunday August 29, 2010 in Lamesa.

She was born on June 11, 1923 in Bonham to Chester Franklin Lehew and Luverna Beatrice Owens. She married Herschell Lester Currie on October 3, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2006 after a long and happy marriage.

They had three children. Her youngest son, Billy Joe Currie, preceded her in death on February 11, 2007.

She is survived by a daughter, Lenda and son-in-law Rinehard Vogler, of Lamesa; a son, Jimmie, and daughter-in-law, Billie Marie Currie of Lamesa; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Currie of Venus. She also is survived by two sisters, Mattie Lee Smith of Lamesa, and Joan Hunt of Alabama; two brothers, Jackie Murphy of Lamesa, and Hubert Murphy of Virginia; and brother-in-law, Dick Mansfield and sister-in-law Betty Mansield both of California. She was blessed to have eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frankie was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years and assistant to Cub Scouts. She served as President of the Band Booster Club and a Room Mother. She was a member of numerous C.B. clubs. She worked as a secretary for an Insurance company, worked at the Court House, a local shoe store, and Frontier Corner. Frankie was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 60 years.

She is preceded is death by her husband, Herschell Currie; her parents; step-father; and son.
