Memorial services for Fred A. Davis, 88, of Lamesa will be held Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Cornerstone Fellowship Church with Pastor Daniel Reese officiating. Private interment at Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Fred passed away on February 4, 2017 in Lamesa.

He was born on August 4, 1928 in Hamilton County, Texas to Samuel Amos and Martha Ola "Mattie" (Robertson) Davis. He married Clara Dee Lynch on June 23, 1952 in Klondike, Texas. They were married 64 years. He was a United States Postal carrier, rural carrier and clerk for 35 years. He served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant and worked as a radio technician for 4 years. He also served in the Army National Guard for 21 years. He was a Cub Scout Master and a softball coach. He also loved woodworking and volunteering for the Christian Woman's Job Corps Thrift Store. Fred was a deacon of Bryan Street Baptist Church for 25 years and a deacon for Second Baptist Church for 3 years. He then became a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church in 2003. Over the past 20 years Fred and Dee have enjoyed travelling, visiting all 48 states and capitals. He loved to garden and work in the yard. He was famous for his cookies and hot rolls.

Fred is survived by his wife, Dee of Lamesa; children, Susan Gorsline and husband, Robert of Lamesa, Nathan Davis of Woodward, Oklahoma and Martha Overby and husband, Jeff of Midland; brother, Duward Davis and wife, Lorene of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Eric Davis, Kevin Davis, Monique Champagne, Lindsey Kendrick, Alisha Thompson, and Kayla Davis. He is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Keith and Gordon Davis; brother, Aubrey Davis; and sister, Ruth Anderson. Family suggest memorials to a charity of your choice.
