Willie Gene "Bill" Davis
February 7, 1929 - March 11, 2017

Funeral services for Willie Gene "Bill" Davis, 88, of Andrews formerly of Lamesa will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with nephew, Chad Clark officiating. Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Willie passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in Lamesa.

He was born on February 7, 1929 in Edgemont, Arkansas to Willie and Rachel (Gadberry) Davis. He graduated as valedictorian from Sparenberg High School in 1947. He was a pilot for the United States Air Force from November 1953 to November 1956. He attended Tarleton State University for two years. Then he transferred to University of North Texas in Denton where he received his master's degree. He farmed and taught math and science at Klondike School for many years. On December 29, 1962 he married Sue Carmichael in Lamesa, Texas. They were married 54 years. In 1979, they moved to Andrews where he farmed until the age of 70. He loved fishing, hunting and telling airplane stories.

Willie is survived by his wife, Sue of Andrews; children, Malcolm Davis and wife, Khenda of Galveston, Denise Smith of Rockwall and Lesli Dolgener and husband, Richard of Andrews; grandchildren, Brock and Brooke Davis, Chas, Preston, London, Priscilla, and Alexandra Smith, Chisum and Shane Dolgener.
