Services for Katie Inus Digby Beaird, 90, of Lamesa will be held on Tuesday, October 19 at 10 a.m. at Sunset Baptist Church with Phillip Digby and Gerald Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home of Lamesa.

Katie passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010 in Lamesa. She was born on August 15, 1920 in Knott, Texas to O.B. and Georgia Nichols. She married Elliott Earl Digby on September of 1939 at the First Methodist Church parsonage in Big Spring, TX. He preceded her in death on September 17, 1980. Katie remarried to Earl T. Beaird on August 15, 1981 in Wichita Falls, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2008. Katie was a food service manager for the Lamesa Independent School District until her retirement. She was a member of Sunset Baptist Church for 56 years where she also taught Sunday school classes. Katie accepted Jesus as her personal savior when she was a child by being baptized in a tank at a Brush Arbor Revival in Knott, Texas. She was a devout Christian who loved to serve the Lord. Katie was a member of Rebekah's Lodge and the Eastern Stars.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; daughter, Darnell and husband Bobby King Sr. of Seminole; son, Phillip Earl and wife Judy Digby of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Bobby Wayne King Jr., John Russell King, Christopher Earl Digby, Hershel Bradley Digby, Regina Ann Digby Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Digby, Bradley Digby, Sara Digby, Laura King, Andrew King, and Harrison King.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband and father of her children, Earl Elliott Digby; her second husband, Earl Beaird; three sisters, Ione Nichols Adams, Dice Nichols Mingus, Pauline Nichols Manning; and a brother, Lloyd Nichols.
