Ralph Earnest Jr.
Services will be held for Ralph Earnest Jr. next Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Gerald Parsons will be officiating.
Ralph (Sonny) was born on March 16, 1936 to L.R. (Casey) and LaVerne Snell Earnest in Lamesa. He died on Aug. 21, 2014, in Pflugerville, Texas, as the result of brain and colon cancer.
He attended schools at Five Mile and Lamesa. After graduation, he went into the U.S. Army, terminating with an Honorable Discharge on June 15, 1961. While in the Army, he served at Ft. Rucker, Ala. as an aircraft mechanic.
During his working career, he was an airfreight pilot and an “over the road” truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Casey in 2001 and LaVerne in 2005.
Survivors include two sisters: Vernell Earnest Thompson of Round Rock and Neva Jean Earnest Lott of Pflugerville; his son, Case Abel Earnest of Grenada, Miss.; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project; the American Cancer Society; or a charity of your choosing.
