Virginia Maxine Fancher, 89, of Lamesa passed away on August 4, 2011. Services will be held on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the 1st Baptist Church of Lamesa with Roy Bird officiating and Gerald Parsons assisting. Burial will follow in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.

Maxine was born on June 22, 1922, in Burkburnett, Texas to Otis and Dovie Clayton Hudgeons. She married Earl Fancher on September 16, 1938 in Lubbock. They had two daughters, Jenny Witte and Shirley Houston.

After Earl's retirement from farming they moved to Mesa, Ariz. where they spent 17 years before moving back to Lamesa in 1996. They enjoyed 35 wonderful years of retirement together, traveling all over the Country before Earl passed away on February 4, 2004. Maxine's passions were painting, gardening, and growing flowers in her garden. She was a very gifted artist, specializing in painting ceramics, porcelain and china. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Lamesa for 20 years.

Maxine is survived by her daughters, Jenny and husband Raymond Witte of Lamesa and Shirley Houston of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Lynda and husband Robert Anderson of Georgetown, Texas; grandkids, Christy Hanshew, Cathy Douglas, Mindy Shapley and Lori Nelson; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl, and brothers; Herman, Wayne, Don, Derrel, and Jackie Hudgeons.
