Leah Iris Fenley

Graveside services for Leah Iris Fenley, 100, of Lamesa will be held Saturday, August, 25, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Brother Rush Coffman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Iris passed away Sunday, August 12, 2018 in Lamesa. She was born January 28, 1918 in Florence, TX to Henry Malcolm and Mary (Wells) Dunlop. She married Joe L. Fenley January 1, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1994. They were married 47 years. Iris graduated from high school in 1936 and then attended Texas Tech University. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in education. Iris taught at Forsan, Lamesa, Patton Springs, and Knott. Iris' secret to living 100 years was gardening tomatoes. She is survived by her son, Mal Fenley of Lamesa; nieces, Tammy Bolander of Wolforth, and Anna Elliot of Lubbock; nephews, Paul Elliot and Richard Elliot both of Shallowater. Iris is also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mildred Billingsley, Margaret Page, and Fern Elliot; and brothers, Harlen Dunlop, and Wells Dunlop. The family suggests memorials to Medical Arts Hospital, 2200 N Bryan Ave, Lamesa, TX, 79331, or to Covenant Medical Center, 3615 19th St, Lubbock, TX, 79410.
