Avis Blakey
Oct. 17, 1995
Avis Blakey, 69, of Hereford, died early Tuesday at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Foske Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Mrs. Blakey was born in Rosedale, N.M., where she was graduated from high school. She was employed by Lone Star Insurance Agency and had been in the insurance business in Hereford for 40 years. She was a member of Avenue Baptist Church and was secretary-treasurer of both Hereford Cemetery Association and Hereford Satellite Center. She married H.H. "Jim" Blakey in Hereford in 1967.
Survivors are her husband; a daughter, Janie Schumacher of Hereford; four sons, Jake Northcutt of Hereford, Tim Northcutt of Austin, Johnny Northcutt of Benjamin and James Blakey of Tulsa, Okla.; three sisters, Janell Davison of Hereford, Leola Stovall of Terre Haute, Ind., and R.I. Campbell of Melrose, N.M., 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ted Price.
The family has suggested that memorials be directed to the Hereford Satellite Center or American Diabetes Association.
