HEREFORD — Edwin Lee Bridges, 78, of Hereford died Monday, Dec. 2, 2013, in Amarillo.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Parkside Chapel with Gene Gee, minister of Church of Christ of Lefors, officiating. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford.

Edwin Lee Bridges was born Nov. 19, 1935, in Hereford to Elisha and Sarah Elizabeth Horn Bridges. He married Faye King on March 21, 1997, in Amarillo. Mr. Bridges was a general contractor and worked as a plant manager at Frank Phillips College. In retirement, he was known as the bicycle man. He also was a member of Hereford Senior Citizens.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Loyd Bridges, Merl Bridges, Frank A. Bridges and Donald Bridges; a sister, Lucille Harper; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Walker.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Valerie Christine Walker of Hereford; two sons, James Michael Bridges and wife Connie of Hereford and Tracey Daniel Bridges of Lefors; four brothers, Joe Billie Bridges of Krum, Earl Bridges of Casa Grande, Ariz., Donald Bridges of Bluffton and Jimmie Bridges of Amarillo; two sisters, Juanita Phillips and Betty Turner, both of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Justin Walker, Alexandria Bridges, Brittany McCarthy, Zachary Bridges and Nathan Bridges; a stepgrandchild, Christopher Hart; a great-grandchild; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren, Ellie, Max, Lula, Ava, Zoey, Olivia and Ismael.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
