HEREFORD - J.E. Brooks, 86, died Saturday, June 10, 2000.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in West Park Cemetery with the Rev. H. Wyatt Bartlett officiating. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. Brooks was born in Rockwall County and had lived in Hereford for more than 40 years. A farmer and rancher, he bred quarter horses and worked as a mechanic and custom harvester. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and Temple Baptist Church in Hereford.
He married Hazel Hulsey in 1936 at Floydada.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by a daughter, Christine; and two sons, David and Rodney.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sylvia Brooks of Hereford; and two sisters, Effie Parker of Lockney and Hazel Stevens of Littlefield.
The family suggests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and Affiliates.

HEREFORD - Hazel Hulsey Brooks, 92, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007.
Graveside Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in West Park Cemetery with the Rev. H.W. Bartlett officiating. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Brooks was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Paris, Lamar County, to Jack Hulsey and Minnie Hutchings. She married J. E. Brooks on Nov. 5, 1936, in Floydada.
Survivors include a daughter, Sylvia Brooks of Hereford; and a brother, Jack Hulsey of Washburn.
The family suggests memorials be to Temple Baptist Church, 700 Ave. K, Hereford, TX 79045; or Humane Society of Deaf Smith County, 113 Ave. B, Hereford, TX 79045.
