HEREFORD - Roxie Ruth Brownlee, 81, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in First Methodist Church in Adrian with the Rev. Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery in Hereford by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon.

Roxie was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Alanreed to Gordon Thomas and Ruth Turner Thomas. She married Joe Brownlee on Dec. 5, 1943, in Portales, N.M. She owned and operated the It'll Do Motel in Clarendon for 25 years. She resided in Adrian before moving to Clarendon. She was the mother of seven children.

Survivors include four daughters, Donna Gudgell of Gatesville, Sue Stephens and Shana Brownlee, both of Amarillo, and Roxann Travis of Glenrio, N.M.; a son, Joel Brownlee of Wheeler; five sisters, Clara Driggs, Vickie Grogan, Rose Ballard, Gladys Harper and Ann Criswell; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
